In the 12th of November, the actors of N.Z. playhouse Auckland came to our school, C.T.K. (Christ The King) Owairaka. The actors names are, Ben, Jack and Jane. They were here because they are presenting shows to every school in Auckland.
Ben came out from the curtain and was dressed up as Pinocchio, one of my favourite fairytale characters. He told us what to do when the signs appear. There was one that said applause, one that said laugh, and one that said oooh, . After we practiced doing what the signs had said, Simon Cow (like Simon Cowell) came out from behind the curtain too. He expected us to clap, but the applause sign did not come out, so he argued with Pinocchio about how an amazing producer he was.
Then it came to the judging of the acts. First was, one was Jill’s act (from Jack and Jill), Simon Cow asked if she was going to fetch a pail of water and that's what she did, she pretended that she was gonna spill it on us. He thought this was too boring so he pressed his button and Jill walked away. Next was Sleeping Beauty. Her act was to sleep beautifully. She, at first was yawning, then, she snored. Simon pushed his button but she was still sleeping. He had to kiss her on the cheek so she could wake up. Finally came Rapunzel, her act was was to sing. She sung a song called yellow (the lyrics were changed) but Simon just thought it was going to be just as bad as the other’s acts so he read his newspaper. She started singing and Simon was drawn to her voice. He said that she won the land far, far, away’s got talent winner, but she had to sign a contract to get the prize. The contract said that Simon Cow will have total control of the winner and would have to do what he wants. Rapunzel didn't sign it and still lived a poor life. The really funny parts was when prince rupee’s pants were falling down and when he was hiding behind his horse.
In my own opinion, Duffy theater is similar. This theater is good for all ages because they have slapstick humor for people who don’t get the joke and sophisticated humor for people who do get it. They had a good amount of props and also had fun playing with words. Expect their performances to always be hilarious.
